IMPORTANT ANOUNCEMENT

Due to the non-reopening of the Humber Social Club after the first national Coronavirus lockdown, HADARS do not currently have plans for a new club HQ. Currently, we have a net via the 2 meter GB3HS repeater starting at 19:30 on Monday nights: at the same time we also run a open Zoom so we have video on Zoom & audio via radio. On Thursdays we have a net on 145.325MHz starting at 19:30. We also have a members Zoom meeting on every other Wednesday & every Friday starting at 19:00. During the Zoom meetings we have radio talk, watching videos, running quizzes & rag chewing. Everyone is welcome to join the nets &/or open Zoom meetings.

The club have a social meet at the Highland Laddie 40-42 Southcoates Ln, Garden Village, Hull HU9 3AD every two weeks on Wednesdays at 7:30pm.

The original Hull & District Amateur Radio Society (HADARS) was founded in Hull in the early 1900’s although the exact date isn’t known.  This makes HADARS one of the oldest radio societies in the United Kingdom and currently has around 20 members.  A document from December 1921 records that there were 28 members.  Over the years HADARS has operated from various locations around the city of Hull and has had a variety of names.  In July 1952 the current HADARS was formed and by November 1952 the society was affiliated to the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB).  A more extensive description of the history of HADARS can be found on the Club Info area of the website.

HADARS is registered as a training and examination centre for obtaining amateur radio licenses and free tuition is offered to anyone who is interested – see the Licensing & Training page for details.

New members and enquiries are always welcome.
